James Dalton – Ep 24 (part 1)

James Dalton is involved with theatre and non-traditional live performance constructs (amongst many other things) and based in Sydney. We got together to speak about banking culture and the affect of that on a city and its artistic communities. Instead we ended up discussing:
– graphic novels
– the trap of literacy
– the power of suggestion
– romantic production
– opera being the rave party of its time
– gratification delay
– experiencing a moment and retelling it later vs video recording a gig and re-screening it to your friends – “lived reportage”
– drinking the urine of a sharman
– crafting an experience to transport the viewer without the lasting wounds that living through the trauma would might leave behind

Tim Darbyshire – Ep 22

Tim Darbyshire gave an hour to Wombat Radio on the closing night of his Dance Massive season of “Stampede the Stampede”.

We discuss:
– some ideas don’t need to be a dance show
– 4 year timelines
– recognisable value
– sensation based or visual aesthetic
– being audience
– the gap between the stage and the seat
